Governments around the world are scanning and forecasting the revolution in medical technologies  


TechCast was invited to participate in a 2-day workshop on health care scanning and forecasting, sponsored by the US Agency for Health Research and Quality (AHRQ).The other 50 or so participants came from similar government programs in the UK, Spain, Austria, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand; from the US NIH, FDA, and other government agencies; and from the corporate health care industry.

Collectively, this meeting demonstrated that scanning and forecasting medical technologies has arrived – and in a big way. Most major nations have similar programs because technology is transforming medicine, and health care providers are struggling to adapt. Look for the practice to spread into other government functions and other industrial sectors as the Tech Revolution roars on.
